More Troubles in Patton Administration Questions arise about Henry billing practices
************************************** SHOOTING DOWN PIGEON PROBLEM Flemingsburg Ky: Flemingsburg Mayor Demaree "Woodie" Todd said he expects 10 to 15 Fleming County Sportsman Club members as well as city police to be posted on the tops of about six buildings next week to take care of the city's pigeon problem. Shooters will be posted on the city building and other buildings to try to eliminate more than 300 pigeons, Todd said. The mayor said he knows the solution sounds bad and he is not "really enthused" about it, but the birds have become a major nuisance costing the city and private landowners thousands of dollars in cleanup efforts. "You may not like the idea, but if you walk down the street by the museum, it will change your mind," Todd said of the City Council's decision Monday to allow the shoot Oct. 19. ***************************************************

********************************************************************* McConnell Calls Weinberg Claim "Ridiculous" US Senator Mitch McConnell's re-election campaign has denounced a claim by Democratic challenger Lois Combs Weinberg that McConnell received so-called "preferential treatment" to avoid being sent to Vietnam in the 1960s. Weinberg and McConnell, who is a three-term Republican incumbent, will square off in the November fifth election. McConnell briefly served in the Army Reserves in 1967, but received a medical discharge for optic neuritis, an eye condition. McConnell campaign manager Hunter Bates says the claim by Weinberg is (what he called) "a stale slur that is completely without merit." Weinberg campaign manager Tim Shock says Weinberg, who has no military record, plans to elaborate on the claim in a speech before an eastern Kentucky veterans' group Saturday in Grayson. Weinberg's campaign is citing a 1967 letter that then-U-S Senator John Cooper, a Somerset Republican, wrote to the commanding general at Fort Knox on behalf of McConnell. McConnell was then a private in the Army Reserves and had been a 1964 summer intern for Cooper. Cooper's letter said McConnell was being medically discharged for optic neuritis. Hillbilly Report October 8, 2002 By OH Napier The longer I live the more I believe that I want to live longer. Still the things that I love the most are the things they say are killing me. I don't believe in doctors as I do believe in the power of the mind. Think about it. If a doctor or just a friend tells you that you look sick then you will start feeling sick. Someone tells you that you are looking good today then you will start feeling better. Keep your own mind strong and talk to your inner feelings often. Let your heart know that you love it and marval at the way it keeps you alive as it beats within your wonderful body. Let your lover know that she is loved when she does wild and special things just for you. Love my friend is very powerful and us hillbilly's know how to love our women, children and dogs. I am so happy with finally getting the internet hooked up in my own kitchen. I am so poor that I never dreamed of a computer until my little red head Cara hooked me up. My articles are also on my web page. To look at it go to breathittchat.com. There you can find my web site, hillbillyfromheaven. I played checkers with someone last night until after midnight. Can't believe how these computers work. Sometimes I wonder just who invented these things or like who invented a ship that would take us to the moon. My actual theroy is that alians from outer space are doing this. My grandma died about a year ago and other day I got out her last things she left on this earth. When I saw her beads I stayed to cry. I cryed a long time. She still lived to be 101 yrs old right her in the mountains of Eastern ky. She always slept with her 38 special in under her pillow. I can remember playing with it when I was a young child. I slept with my grandma until I was about 10 or 12. We all had to sleep beside the coal stove and fireplace. What a beautiful feeling it was to crawl in under about four of them big thick homemade blankets and hug my grandma. Then in the cold mornings before I stood beside the highway waiting on the school bus which was always late as we lived so far out in the county, she would heat up the old wood stove in the kitchen and fix my favorite bottle of warm cocoa. My little woman has left me and she is gone. I am so lonely but I will survive. I am hungry, tired and sad. She will be back I hope tonight. I am addicted to her. She makes everything cool even when she whipped me before she left. Hell, I am use to that. Women have always beat me up, then that makes them love me more when we finally get in bed. I love to be petted on. My book "Its a Bloody Long Way Up Troublesome" about the early days of this area is for sell at the newspaper office or by mail for $20 and $5 shipping by writing to OH Napier- Box 392- Jackson KY 41339. ******************************************************************* Oct 6, 2002 Hardshell News By: OH Napier I know that I have let a lot of my readers down the past few weeks as it seems as if I have been having so many things on my mind. All of us people go through times where nothing seems to matter. I admit that I suffer from depression. I have tried several anti-depressant pills but for me they only made it worse. Well, now I have found the real antidote. She is still sleeping in there this early Sunday morning in my bed. Bobby Chapman has written a book about poems concerning his experiences with life. The title is "Come Into My World." I really enjoy reading it. There are so many people around here that has great talent. Bobby keep up the good work as I hear you are writing another one. Good to hear from Yvvone and Jim Maggard. Jim Maggard was the first real disk jockey I ever knew. I can remember the day I first met him down at Mae Jetts Grocery store. He was dj at WEKG Jackson. I believe he was the first one ever. Anyway he became a household name and went on to Frankfort and is doing well today. He can sing good and is a smart politician. Actually I can remember another radio celebrity that use to come to Hardshell often. His name is Cager Farler. Ain't seem him in a long time but he to was my hero. I love people on the radio. These days our favorite in Hardshell in Kelvin Davison on WJSN. Time to get out the stove pipes as these nights are getting colder. Time sure does fly. I have another birthday this month and it only seems like I had one last week. I hope that I wrote what a good job Steve Barnett done at the Honey Festival with the sound system when I was singing. Steve is very talented and is an expert when it comes to music. Well, write me at www.breathittchat.com There you can find my web page called hillbilly from heaven. Don't believe everything you read until you post me a message. It seems that many people have different feeling for me and are so jealous they sit up at night. ******************************************************************** Citizen of the Week September 26,2002 Johnny Gross aka Elvis
Johnny Gross at Gates of what he calls "Graceland" in Kentucky Jackson, Ky: Seeing a person have fun in this county and helping others to smile is a big task but not for Johnny Gross. Johnny loves Elvis and stands on our local streets and waves at passers by and speaks to them and puts a smile on their face. I spoke with Johnny at the local city park this week and he seems to be a happy person. He loves to make people smile he says. Johnny celebrated his 43rd birthday on September 24, 2002. Watch each week as we salute a local citizen. **************************************************** The Ups and Downs of the Happy Pappy; by OH Napier Sept 22, 2002:Sorry folks that I missed the Black Gold. I am worried about our governor. I told all of them not to take that little blue pill called Viagra. It sure changed my life as I feel like going to heaven every morning looking for the darkness. Still I wonder how they can legalize a drug that powerful and still take me to jail for smoking a little pot. Mary Jane gets off better then Viagra and them big scientists think they learn something new about cloning sheep. Hell, us hillbillies learned how to clone a long time ago. My grandpa called it drafting. I watched him build a new tree from the stump of an old tree. He took the limb of a baby tree and wrapped a white rag around it and put some kind of potion on it, fastened it to an old tree stump that absolutely had to have life in it and after a few days it took. Us hillbillies ain't dumb as we know about the real life not like some cement walker or desk worker. We love to work hard and we love to play hard. But us hillbilly's love to kinda stay close to nature. We love to watch the sun rise and the moon to cross the sky at night. Some say that I am a wild mind. Yes I am because I am real. I love the feel of a rock in my hand. I love to shoot my sling shot. Why spend your money on a bullet when all you need is a good little round rock that don't make no noise. I love my new book mostly about Hazard. Folks that is a wild town. If you don't believe me just read about the true facts that I recorded in "It's a Bloody Long Way Up Troublesome." on this website or by mail to Box 392- Jackson Ky, 41339. They are $20 at this office but by mail you need to send an extra five dollars as I have to hire a taxi to run me to the post office. There's also an OH Napier discussion board and webpage on the net at www.breathittchat.com visit or write me at ohnapier@lycos.com. I ain't got a pair of socks that will match. But I am OH. I left a few riches so I could stay OH. I have lived on a graveyard and the memories still haunt me to return to those beautiful hills and hollows and my ghost. I will some day visit them forever as the snakes stretching out in the beautiful warm sunshine and the leaves falling on my grave and the wind forever making my peace. I must say life is a wonderful thing. *************************************************************** Feds: Three Fla. suspects played stupid joke What began Friday morning as a potential terrorism attack on Miami that fixed South Floridians to their televisions, tied up hundreds of police officers and shut down one of the state's busiest highways for nearly 16 hours ended Friday evening with a colossal thud.
